Whitethroat or not?

Apologies for the quality - it was taken purely for ID and was at quite some distance in light that wasn't the best. Singing away next to the Thames in south Oxfordshire.

I would say Whitethroat as I can make out a pronounced white patch on the throat. Your photo caption says Whitethroat or Reed Warbler!. Very seldom would you see a Reed Warbler perched in such an open spot, they prefer to stay low down in the reeds.

I could be wrong of course but I'm going for Whitethroat

I would say Common Whitethroat, they love to sing from the tops of bushes or small trees.

Thanks for that - I had it in my mind it was a whitethroat but I know so little . The book about the reserve I was visiting says reed warblers are very common there so that's the reason I thought about one. Thanks again! (and RobinP too)
