| | | Re: Orangy/red bird ID Please I'm not 100% sure of the identity of this bird but I can see it's a juvenile, my guess would be either Redstart or Nightingale. |

| | | Re: Orangy/red bird ID Please I'd also say a Spotted Flycatcher. I got some shots last year, have a look at this one for comparison. |

| | | Re: Orangy/red bird ID Please "Orangey/red" from the back?
No spotted flycatcher could ever be described thus, even if superficially they do look alike.
And with a tail that colour in the photo's?
Juvenile Redstart.

| | | Re: Orangy/red bird ID Please I'm no expert and I've never seen one myself, but the colour of the tail made me immediately think it must be a juvenile Redstart. And your description "when it flies the back view is brilliant orangy/red colour" sounds very much like a Redstart. So I'm with Adam, TBR and the others who vote for juvenile Redstart.
Nice photos and a good spot anyway, monkey!

| | | Re: Orangy/red bird ID Please Yes there were a lot of them in the forest and seemed to like the large holly trees/bushes. It was the colour when they flew that caught my eye! It will be good to see all the adults later
