Two firsts in one day

Well my Tcon 1.7 arrived today which I bought with my birthday money.So I went to The River Otter and walked for quite some time without finding much to try it out.Spent more time with the macro.Anyway after walking for about 2 1/2 miles I turned back.Going a slightly different path.As I aproached the last half of my walk I spotted 2 blue flashes whizzing past up the river.Wow I do love the Kingfisher but had never seen one perched.I kept hearing what sounded like a young bird twittering away like they do when wanting feeding.I made my way through on a little mud pathway people had worn to get towards the sound.Getting stung by nettles on the way.Oh boy was it worth it,as on the opposite bank was a Kingfisher.I believe it was a young one by the noise it was making and also there was a little white bit on the end of its beak.
I was so excited.If I hadn't had the new lens the photos would not have been very good.These are not perfect as the light kept changing every time a cloud came over and there was a lot of foliage around and of course the first time I have used this lens.I have played around a little in PSP to try and improve but not heavily cropped.Not perfect but good enough for me.Here they are

Lucky you I've never even seen a kingfisher let alone taken a photo of one!

Hi Cherrybee great Photos What Camera and What lens were you using.

I haven't got a fancy camera or lenses like most on here but do my best with what I have.Which is Finepix S5600 and just recently (today in fact)acquired a Olympus 1.7X TCON lens.I haven't a clue what I am doing half the time I tend to use Aperture Priority most of the time .If the focus isn't right and one of the numbers ,shutter speed or aperture goes red I just adjust until both are happy

My Hubby has a S5600 I think your photos are very good and clear well done and well spotted a bird i have yet to see,
They look better than most off mine.
