| | | Nice weather for ducks..... ..... and for Green Woodpeckers.
It's been heavy rain in the south east today and I have seen 3 of them by the roadside in short grass. I don't think I saw 3 in the whole of last year. So that made up for the miserable weather.

| | | Re: Nice weather for ducks..... Fantastic birds green woodpeckers. one of my faves. i think that their numbers have increased (i haven't read this any where) over recent years. i see them around quite often nowadays. mostly fly overs, with their distinct flight pattern.
but there is one area where i see them every time i visit. managed to see adult male on ground, feeding and hopping around, beautiful plummage, especially with sun shinning on his back.
they always remind me of Professor Yaffle from Bagpuss. |
