| | Common Crane - Spotted in Western Isles Hi there not posted for a while, working hard but took a long lunch break and guess what I saw? First time in 100 years so its been reported, A common crane as shown below:
I was a wee way back but still managed to get a reasonable shot for such an unusual bird, what away to spend an hour from my desk.
Debbie

It is good to have you back here on WAB.
A Common Crane in the Western Isles is an excellent record. I believe there has also been one in Shetland recently so both birds are some way from their UK stronghold down here in East Anglia although the Scottish birds may well be from northern Europe.
Anyway, where they originate from, your sighting and photos I an sure gave you a very enjoyable lunch break!

| | | Re: Common Crane - Spotted in Western Isles oops... My sense of direction is useless. Comes of talking about house positions at the same time.. Looking around the local area here, after last weeks rain the cranes would be at home around Oxfordshire.
Looking at the photos again, I getting a touch or the green eyed monster, I wish I could get close enough for a picture. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
