| | | Grey Wagtail? This little chap has appeared around my pond this past few weeks
I finally got a pic today, but I don't recognise what he is
He behaves like a wagtail, but with less tail 'wagging'
Can anybody confirm this new arrival to my garden? |

| | | Re: Grey Wagtail? It is not behaving like a female chaffinch
It seems to have a longer tail than a female chaffinch
It is hovering like a hummingbird and not a bit like a female chaffinch
Are you all sure this is a female chaffinch |

| | | Re: Grey Wagtail? OK
I have had another look
I think it is just a female chaffinch. They do, in fact have quite a long tail
It is just that this birds behaviour appeared very strange for a chaffinch, and was reminiscent of a wagtail |

| | | Re: Grey Wagtail? As others have said , for sure a female Chaffinch, but at this time of year they often hover by foliage on trees gleaning insects from it! |

| | | Re: Grey Wagtail? Well that is certainly just what it was doing
I suppose I have been used to just seeing these birds on the feeder
