Whats this bird called?
It was in my Mums garden last night

Size of a large pigeon with a reddish brown body. White at the top of the head with black flashes on either side of a cream beak
Emerald green under the wings with a black tail
Must of had a 16" wingspan!!

Any ideas?

would you clas it as a 'bird' or a duck/goose?

did it have a beak, or bill?

You are halfway to describing a Turtle Dove.
Reddish brown body, black markings to the sides of the head ?, black tail.

Cream beak and green underwings ???

Sounds like a jay, especially with the black flashes by the beak.
