| | | New camera Bit the bullet yesterday and bought a new camera.
A Fuji Finepix S100.
It's never going to be as good as a DSLR but I don't have to carry around a big bag of lenses.
Here's one of my first pictures with my new toy, hopefully they will slowly get better. |

Hi snake,
how far away were you from the bird. I have a fuji finepix and I have to get really close for a decent shot. I have almost given up on birds.
It takes good close up insects and amphibians though |

| | | Re: New camera Kayleigh,
The Lapwing was about 15m away when I took this shot.
The camera was on its highest zoom setting (14x or 400mm), then I enlarged it slightly on the computer.
I took quite a few other pictures but on full zoom you have to hold it very steady or they come out blurred.
I am not that good with either the camera or the computer yet but I am slowly getting there. |

| | | Re: New camera Did you try the optical image shake feature? Also with my similar model I find that by over exposoing a stop makes for better exposure at long distance. I know the 100 to 400 %dynamic range is very good so it may not be a problem on this new model |

I took some long distance pics of a lapwing with my DSLR yesterday and binned the lot.

| | | Re: New camera Hi Jason green,
I purchased my fuji S100 from a small retailer near to my home, I paid £399.00 for it but I think you can get it a lot cheaper if you search the internet.
It appears to have most of the bells and whistles that you get on a reasonable dslr, I have yet to discover what they all do.
I am still studying the manual and am slowly working things out.
Colincurry,
I am fortunate to know a number of friendly farmers that own marsh farms.
They very kindly give me access to their farms with my vehicle.
Most of the birds are used to seeing vehicle movement and sometimes you can get very close to them.
I am hoping to get some interesting shots as the seasons change.
If they turn out any good I will post them for you all to see. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
