We have had so much rain here in north Kent, the rain gauge on the farm read 58mm after the first day of heavy rain.
At the end of the third day there was a further 67mm, and it is still raining.
The ditches and creeks are so full they are spilling out into the fields.
This spells disaster for a lot of wildlife.
So many nests destroyed.
All the young chicks that have hatched rely heavily on the insect hatch which is not happening, they are hungry wet and cold, most will not survive.
There is still time for them to start again but you can't help but feel sorry for them.
