started of at martin mere, was a bit quiet when i got there and all the grass and weeds and leaves have shot up which made spotting the birds that bit more difficult,i was about to say nothing much about but i guess if you tick of everything you see and hear you would have quite a sizeable list.
so apart from the obvious suspects, two avocet chicks and three ringed plover chicks from ron barker hide plus a few lapwing chicks and a quick sighting of the
Stoat as usual, plenty of redshanks, oystercatchers, lapwings and avocets and one common sandpiper but no sign of the golden oriole that landed yesterday so after a spot of lunch off to mere sands wood.
just after arriving at the visitors centre the kingfisher showed up perching on the reeds and stuck around all afternoon ,fishing eating flying of down to the far side and returning within 5 minutes to repeat the process (sounds like there may be hungry mouths to feed

will keep a closer eye on that.
in between the disappearances there were the reed warblers with what appeared to be at least one fledgling, after a couple of hours i'd had my fill of kingfisher action and went to see what else was around ,plenty of GC Grebes
around and i was told but didn't see that their were dragonflies around in the morning so i may have another look early tomorrow.i'm not well up on dragonflies but something that was four spotted was mentioned

a final half hour back with kingfisher without a decent pic (damn those reeds)
and a brief glimpse of a female hen harrier crossing left to right and then back a couple of minutes later to end the day and then home for tea (and lashings of ginger beer)
