I always thought we couldn't | I always understood that it wasn't allowed.I have had a nestbox up for a couple of years and this year it is at last being used by Blue Tits.In the last week it has got extremely busy with both parents in and out all day.I have managed to get some lovely photos of them going in and out the nest box but I am not really sure whether or not I can post them.
My husband and I spend a lot of the day watching from the kitchen door or going up and sitting in the chairs when the sun is out.It is so exciting. Not sure when they hatched but it is only the last week that it has got very busy.It will be lovely when they fledge.Hope I can see them and take photos.
Hope someone can clarify this for us I would love to post my photos |

| | | Re: Nests and Eggs I suppose photographing eggs and nests would encourage people to get increasingly close to improve on existing photographs which may cause parents to abandon them from the disturbance and perhaps exciting egg thieves?

I just wanted to clarify it as there is a picture on the forum of a wren on its nest and as these are unmoderated I thought of putting my photo on the forum but I don't want to break any rules.Mine does not show the nest, eggs or chicks. |

| | | Re: Nests and Eggs I had a video of heron chicks on a nest in Regents park. While I hasten to add I was standing on a well used busy path in a london park with them safely on an island, I cant say i disagree with the blanket ban policy as it is the only way to ensure no one disturbs chicks on the nest just to post photos on here. Sure they might do it anyway but WAB can't be seen to encourage it |

I took it with maximum zoom and its cropped.Mind you the nest box is over the door of hubby's shed(he put it there) and they don't seem at all bothered when he goes in the shed

Both Blackbirds mentioned have raised or are in the process of raising young successfully in fact the first Blackbirds nest in the greenhouse where the fledgling has flown has been reoccupied and she is laying again so obviously she sees no danger there and it's in an area where we can't avoid going past to get to our animals in the fields and she doesn't mind at all, she even comes and sits watching me when I'm gardening looking for worms When birds visit your garden regularly they get to know you and know you arn't a threat, they are used to us and ignore us when we are about, the nest the Wren is in is next to our ponies stall where we have to go to regularly and again we definitely wouldn't disturb her infact we're going to buy some more hay as we won't even attempt to use any that's near her, she is sat quite happily this morning whenI went to let my pony out. I certainly wouldn't go out in the wild and photograph birds nests and don't want to encourage anyone else to, none of the nests I have photographed in my garden have been abandoned nor were the birds disturbed

This forum does encourage people to take photos and if people started posting eggs and birds on nest pics !! I personally think it is not a very good idea. |

I personally think it is not a very good idea. | I think people should use a bit of common sense and not take any pictures that could disturb birds or animals wether nesting or not, I have been a wildlife supporter and member of our local wildlife trust for many years and am encouraging my young grandchildren to do the same and would never do anything to purposely harm anything, each situation needs carefull consideration before any picture is taken but as we are all hopefully true appreciators of all fauna and flora on here this should be obvious | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
