| | | Jays visiting Have had a pair of Jay's visiting the garden recently and think they may have a nest nearby. I have read they like magpies take baby birds, does any one have any evidence of this? |

| | | Re: Jays visiting Love Jays, gorgeous photo. I've read they eat nuts, seeds and insects although I saw one recently attacking a Blackbird along with a Magpie but I think this was probably due to the Blackbirds becoming protective of their nest whilst the Jay was in the area.

| | | Re: Jays visiting We had a pair visit us last year and they were especially keen on Monkey Nuts, they seemed to like opening the shells, during the breeding season they will kill mice or any small chicks etc they can find, in the autumn they both eat and store a variety of nuts, acorns etc and in a good 'harvesting' year their stores can last them for up to a year and unlike squirrels who often forget where they buried their stash Jays are very intellegent birds and have an excellent memory |
