River Trip

Feeling down today so decided to take a trip around the River Nairn to see what I could catch and it was quite eventful a first for me in to specis The Tree Creeper and Yellow Wagtail trouble was they where on the opposite bank to me about 60 yds away and even with the 170- 500mm lens was pushing it.

Yellow Wagtail watched this bird for some time and it kept coming back to same perch but was very flighty

The Tree Creeper I saw movement on the opposite bank and checked with the bins saw this chap my god can they move fast I was up and down like a yoyo.
Sorry for the Quality on the way home felt a lot better glad to have gone out

Re: River Trip

Hi Bill

Sorry to hear you were feeling down, but I bet you were much happier having seen and captured these two species of beautiful birds- both of which I'm yet to see That's all it takes sometimes, a nice walk by the river or in the park, and it brings your chin up a lot I'm in the middle of a 2,000 word essay and I've just hit 1,400 words so I think I'll go out to de-stress

The quality doesn't matter, you captured them best you could at the time

Re: River Trip

I think that wagtail is a grey wagtail and not the yellow variety. Great shots all the same.

Re: River Trip

Again it's a Grey Wagtail, a typical riverine inhabitant, whereas Yellow Wagtails prefer grazing meadows.

Re: River Trip

Nice to hear you say a walk in the country cheered you up, sometimes it is the best medicine. Considering the distance these birds were away I am impressed by the photos. I was just about to purchase a Bigma when found out about the 150-500 so am holding back. We go to your part of scotland every year in October and I visit the coast between Nairn and Spey bay. This year we are going in August as well so I might ask you for some of the better places to visit for wildlife.

Re: River Trip

Hi Bill
I really understand your thread, every saturday I go out to beautiful places and see wonderful sights and no matter what the weather I love it because it charges my batteries for what ever the following week has to offer. I try never to miss my wildlife saturdays because I know it will make me feel good so keep up your trips and posting your photos and comments and you will be smiling
Ps i made the same mistake and ID a grey wagtail as a yellow wagtail because of its yellow body !!

Linda
