| | | Black-Winged Stilt - - in KENT Yesterday i went to Elmley RSPB, Isle of Sheppey in Kent to see the stunning looking Black-Winged Stilt watched...
Two birds had arrived early morning which must be the birds from Abberton Reservoir on Friday, they gave great views though distant..
The birds copulated twice !!! and the male was very territorial seeing off a pair of Shelduck a one point..
They where seen from the Wellmarsh Hide the first one and was right over the over side at distance, spent a few hours waiting in hope that they would come closer but my bladder got the better of me...........yep you guessed it while i was gone they came right in close to the first island which is about 20ish metres !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........
Also of note 2 Little Tern, Little Owl, 2 Garganey
Excellent day great looking birds !!!

| | | Re: Black-Winged Stilt - - in KENT Nice sighting Mick, and good pics too.
I was planning a visit to Elmley tomorrow, then looked at the forecast and decided not to bother. But the forecast has improved considerably since this morning so I just might go after all.

I had a great visit. No sign of the Black-winged stilts but a wonderful day out anyway.
