Day light robbery

Hi
Just like to recount my eventful day on Sunday
Took the wife to the garden centre to sort out plants for the hanging baskets.
All went well got the moss, compost and lots of plants.
Cost a fortune, but hey it’s only once a year.
When we got back home, we soon got stuck into lining the baskets, putting in the compost and arranging the plants.
Must admit the wife did a great job, and after hanging all the basket we sat down with a coffee to admire our work.
It took about 30 mins for them to arrive, Starlings, Sparrows Tits and even Pigeons the word was out.
There is a nice couple down the road who has put all our nesting requirements in a nice basket for us to help ourselves.
Not only did they pinch the moss they also pecked out lots of the plants.
Now I know we love birds and going birding, but we did not know if we should laugh or cry.
I thought most birds would have finished building nests, but hey wrong again.
After all the feeding in the winter and into the spring it would have been nice of them to leave my plants alone.
Thinking of putting notice in next time, (hope they can read).
Just like to know if anyone else had this type of experience.
If nothing else it’s good for a laugh, and is a small price to pay for the pleasure the birds bring
Mick

Re: Day light robbery

I think it is very thoughtful of you putting nesting material out just for the birds. LOL

Re: Day light robbery

I usually find that it's the squirrels that shred my hanging baskets into little pieces

Those birds, eh? It's all fun and games to start with but then they take it too far. They probably dumped verything around the corner then went off to laugh about it!
