Swifts

Had my first Swifts of the year yesterday, on the last day of April Over the house in Grimsby, I usually don't see them to May, but they are a day early

Well spotted. Been keeping my eyes open but haven't seen any while out and about as yet

Re: Swifts

Hi Lincs - Just posted on another similar thread. Yes, I've seen a few hanging around the telephone wires in the last couple days too. Hopefully see them zipping around catching their dinner soon too

Re: Swifts

I saw my first pair on Tuesday, they were followed by another two yesterday and yet another two this morning so now there are 6 flying around the houses!!! I know its summer when the first Swifts arrive

Re: Swifts

I was watching these as well and they were my first of the year. Since then I have seen them all over the place and in the last two days I have seen them at all their regular site on my way to work.

There may be some near where I live as I have been watching 4+ flying above my bungalow for the last two days. If there are that will be a first since I moved here nearly 4 years ago.

John

Re: Swifts

Heard my first screeches on 3rd May. Oh joy! My son has since counted about 9. They didn't appear last year until 9th May so a few days early. Welcome back!

Re: Swifts

Since I've read this post today I've been seeing them all over the place, I saw nine while out and about and the first Swallows and House Martins too, perhaps I've just not been looking properly.

Re: Swifts

I've seen tens of dozens of swifts today......very encouraging and a truly welcome sight indeed. As I type this, I can hear the high-pitch shieks of them as they cavort across the sky.
