Kev .. | There have been a few records over Regent's Park- which is as central as you can get! The guy who is responsible for the birds there- Tony Duckett- records some amazing stuff there- lots of raptors over + Crossbill a few days ago. |

We are providing chicks from the Chilterns to translocate to Aberdeen. So it's possible you saw one of the 'new' kites that was released last year.
andywolves - It isn't unusual to see a kite these days, in areas well outside the reintroduction areas. Quite often, these could be the non breeding birds, who sometimes like to have a 'wander'. However, they will usually (not always), return to the natal area when they are ready for breeding - usually in their 2nd or 3rd year.
Hope this helps. | Thanks for this - I suspect(fom what you say) that the single kite I spotted here in West /mid Devon this weekend will be one on a 'wander' ! I hope he stays and attracts a mate! |

| | | Re: Red Kite I was recently passing through the Marlborough area of Wiltshire and saw three pairs of Red Kites hovering over the crest of a hill. I saw these pairs over several days in around the same area.
The tails were definitely forked like a kite usually is, a bit like a swallow. They were near Ogbourne Saint Andrew but since this is private land for Pheasant breeding I didn't feel like getting any closer to them.
Has anyone spotted these pairs before?
