Just (2 mins ago ) seen my first Swift of the year, high and silent, with a backdrop of dark clouds, over central Reading.

I can't wait for them to get back up here, when they are around they are the background sound to the day. It was only when we had the central heating boiler overhauled recently that I realised it was Winter and I had been misled for the last months.
Imagine never stopping or slowing down for years on end. (Please, my dear wife, sit down and take your coat off). |

Just seen and heard my first Swifts this season - three flying around over Ryde, hope more will come... they're my fav birds... super flyers... |

Saw my first a week ago, but yesterday quite a few more around. Yesterday late afternoon we had a stroll in the country park at the top of the road + at least 25 were circling above us.. |

Saw my first swifts of the year today. Strangely, less than 48 hours after the house martins arrived back to their usual breeding area. |
