| | | scope advice apologies if this is not the right place to post this thread, but it is bird watching related, i have just been offered a kowa 822 spotting scope, with eyepiece and case, it is the straight through scope, i just wondered if you have any opinions on this model, i seem to be having difficulty id-ing, species on the likes of salt marshes, and large lakes, thanks in advance.

| | | Re: scope advice No, this probably isn't the right forum, but hey.....
Kowa are pretty good, I haven't used one myself but they get good reviews, put 'kowa 822 review' into your favourite search engine and see what you can find. If you are viewing distant water birds make sure it has at least a 30x eyepiece, you will also need a decent tripod & head, manfrotto, velbon & slik all make good ones.. |

| | | Re: scope advice Kowa hae good reputation, especially in america.
Head warden of Minsmere uses one !!!
If the one you are being offered is a good price and has
a good image get it -- later on you can sell it on if you
want to upgrade / change to angled veiwfinder etc. etc.
By a good tripod though -- I increasingly use a bean bag
in hides though.
