| | | Lancs ross's gull I went to see the Lancashire ross's gull at Lytham Saint Anne's yesterday and it is still there today. For anyone nearby, go and see it, it is rather nice, with the pink flush on the breast visible clearly from certain angles.
Gulls don't do a great deal for me I have to say, but this is a good one! It is near Fairhaven Lake and is quite confiding really. Just follow the dudes with 'scopes and you'll find it.
Regards, Chris |

| | | Re: Lancs ross's gull Not seen this one yet, but my wife, in her words, saw 'hundreds' of photographers and twitchers out around Mythop in Blackpool on Sunday - any ideas what they would have been after? The Fylde Bird Club listed the following sightings on that day at that venue: Wood Sandpiper, male Yellow Wagtail, 2 Little Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, 2 Ruff, Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, 2 Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Sparrowhawk, 2 Wheatears, Buzzard, 3 Wheatear. I'm guessing it would have been the Wood Sandpiper then? |

| Presumably. I'd love to see a Ross's. |

| | | Re: Lancs ross's gull Wood Sandpipers are always good birds to see, but the're not that rare + I wouldn't expect a large crowd to see one; perhaps there was something else about? |

It's doing rather well, the Fylde coast area of Lancs, with, apart from the aforementioned two, a glossy ibis at Warton Marsh and a ross's goose at Pilling.

| | | Re: Lancs ross's gull Thanks. Ah yes, I saw a pic of the Glossy Ibis on the Fylde Bird club website. Must get out and about to see some of these, especially as I'm so close. What a shame that thing called work gets in the way so much, eh....
Have you managed any shots of them Chris? Can you get close enough (without disturbing them too much, of course)?
