Anyone seen anything strange around Gloucester?

I was travelling from Gloucester at about five on Friday evening, going towards the M5 (junction 12, I think - I wasn't driving) when I thought I saw a gull carrying a piece of red tape, trailing behind it but as I got closer, I thought it was actually long red legs. I never got a good look at it and can't be sure what I saw, but some internet searching revealed reports of sightings of black-winged stilts at Gloucester in 2005 and in Cornwall 2008. The photos I've seen on the internet do look like what I saw.

Has anyone got any opinion or comment as to what I might have seen? Of course, what I'm really hoping for is other reports of the stilt

You could check with your county bird recorder to see if anyone else sighted it
