Bird ID Please?

Hi - hope you can help.

While out and about last weekend, my attention was drawn to bird sounds I've only heard once before. Peering into the trees I spotted this little chap - I think it may be a goldcrest, and I know it'll be hard to determine from these awful photos (sorry - didn't have the Bigma on the camera !).

It was small and very active among the branches, and so difficult to photograph. I'll be well chuffed if it is a goldcrest, but any ID would be appreciated.

This is the first pic:

Then the little darling decided it didn't want to be photographed any more!

Note: a little later on, one of these flew out of a tree and on to a fence not more than ten feet away from me. As I (very slowly) started to raise my camera, it looked straight at me, and it took off back into the trees again .

Thanks

Thea

Re: Bird ID Please?

Well spotted and photographed. These are extremely difficult little birds to photograph as they never stay still for more than a few seconds.

You lucky thing! I only heard it, didn't get to see it. I'll never forget the song though, which to me, sounded like the start of The Minute Waltz!

Re: Bird ID Please?

Thank you all .

I was just very, very lucky. At the time I took this shot I had my Olympus 50-200mm on the camera as I didn't want to chance the Bigma getting wet - the weather was pretty awful with very heavy showers and gusty winds.

Now I know where I have seen them, I'll try harder next time - and pray for better weather!

Thea
