| | | Where do goldfinch nest.?? I have about 5 goldfinches getting nesting materiel from around my garden. They only normally only stay to feed on the sunflower seeds, then fly off.
But recently they have stayed around my garden.
So where do they build their nests and what do the nests look like. Do they nest in gardens or countryside. |

| | | Re: Where do goldfinch nest.?? Hi Kayleigh, they nest towards the end of branches of trees or bushes, sometimes in gardens or orchards. The nest is cup shaped and built with moss, lichen and grass, lined with wool, hair and plant down such as thistle, dandelion etc. The female incubates the eggs and both parents feed the young. |

| | | Re: Where do goldfinch nest.?? As the others say... Keep an eye on any smaller trees they like fruit trees also any larger bushes in hedgerows. They do not nest in the thicker hedges like blackbirds or the other finches

| | | Re: Where do goldfinch nest.?? Last year we had a goldcrest nest in a bush at the bottom of a tree in one of our paddocks. My 10 year old son found a chick attempting to fledge and hanging out of the nest. Horse hair in the nest lining was wrapped around the chick's foot and had clearly been there through much of its development. My son wanted to try and save it even though I said it would probably die. We spent half and hour gently unwrapping the hair with a pair of tweezers, the leg underneath was bleeding slightly. I told him to take it back near the nest but not to hold his breath. He put it on the branch and it fluttered up to one of its parents and was flying around within a day | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
