Strange Bird sound

Heard a bird today at dawn, and it really was the strangest sound i've ever heard, and i have no idea what it was

It's really hard to describe, it was really up and down notes, really quite quickly going from one to another, almost like a slide whistle

Any ideas?

I heard one today, sounded like a football whistle

I don't think it was, i've heard most bird sounds but this one had me totally stumped it was almost electronic in sound....very strange, I was in my bedchair at the time and it was only just light enough to see the sky.

Perhaps one of the weird noises a starling makes from time to time?

try this site it's the british library sound archive, you'll have to search by species but should find something, it's amazing how many sounds are here - not just wildlife.
