| | | Nightingale I was out early this morning as usual on my patch which has a very dense breeding population of Nightingale. They are beginning to quieten down a bit now but this one (see attached picture) was making a sharp whistling sound as it collected food presumbaly for young. I have never heard this call before. |

| | | Re: Nightingale Good to see a photo of a Nightingale sitting boldly out in the open .... well done!
Presumably the whistling sound was some kind of contact call for the young fledglings?

Have been birding a number of years now and have never seen a nightingale.
Still I live in hope.
Nice photo

| | | Re: Nightingale Thanks. Yes I think it was a contact call. My patch at New Hythe in Kent has up to 10 pairs so I am very lucky

| | | Re: Nightingale Newhythebirder is it possible for you to post this image in the Gallery. Just done a search and although we have several sound recordings there are no images of a Nightingale. Thanks
