| | | Re: Some birds in my local park... Thanks Jason, Roger, Kayleigh. I am going to go back out tomorrow if the weather holds up. I put some crushed peanuts in the feeders that are spread around the wooded area and was surprised how close they would come. I've figured out the best 'hiding' places now to be able to stake them out  Think I'm going to have to invest in a decent tripod though to make life easier on the arms when waiting for any period of time!
It's a nice big park that has nesting Grey Herons, Great Crested Grebes, numerous ducks and geese as well as all the variety of tits and finches, etc so you never quite know what you are going to see day to day. Now all i've got to do is photograph them   |

Now all i've got to do is photograph them   | Sometimes baiting the birds with food is the only way to get them near enough especially when you are using a 300mm lens. I know it's something I do at times and many other people do a well.
It's surprising how near they will come when they have gained confidence in the area you are feeding them in. As for a tripod it's something I use all the time excepting in flight shots, much easier on the arms especially if you are going to be in one spot for some time.
