Hi all,
I put up a nest box with camera back in February and I'm pleased to say a pair of Blue Tits are busy building a nest in it. The nest looks almost complete, they are bringing in the soft material now. No eggs yet.
The problem is that while giving the box a once-over the tits have pecked at the camera and knocked it off kilter, so it's not covering the whole box anymore, and sure enough the area that's missing is at the back where the bowl of the nest is.
Since the tits aren't yet spending the night inside, do you think it would be safe at night time to attempt to adjust the camera? This would involve sliding out the wooden tray section it sits in and re-seating the camera (its a box from gardennature.co.uk if anyone is familiar with those).
My gut instinct is I should leave well alone, but what do you think? Would it be safe to adjust when they are not there or is there just too much risk of disturbing things? Last thing I want is for them to adandon at this stage.
Cheers
Martin
