| | | Bird of the season What new arrivals are you seeing in your garden or patch that you have not seen before, or only infrequently?
I have had infrequent visits from long tailed tits in the past two years, and only in a 'little group passing through' sort of way.
Now, although I am using all the same feeders and food, my garden is full of them all the time, mainly on the fat feeders, or sitting on the ash tree outside my window looking like crotchets on a music score. I am delighted that they have decided to spend time here.
Now I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of bramblings and siskins, as so many of you seem to be seeing them this year, and I haven't had the honour of entertaining them yet.

We also got long tail tits but they only sweep in and out, they don't stick around. |

| | | Re: Bird of the season I've had a few Birds of the Season visit this year:
The first ever Brambling seen in my garden (one or two at most) - regularly visited from January until now with a flock of our regular Chaffinches:
A couple of Long Tailed Tits that visited every couple of days or so:
A couple of visits by a Greater Spotted Woodpecker and also a coal Tit: and finally
One visit by a Bullfinch (which stayed firmly in the shrubbery!) - so I guess the Bullfinch wins !

| | | Re: Bird of the season At the bottom of next doors garden some blue tits are furnishing the nest box , it is west facing ( ) and has only ever been used for roosting before.
I have great tits in and out of my nest box
At the moment I am watching a pair of oystercatchers who I am now seeing most days either feeding on the very damp meadow or flying over making alot of noise
The chiffchaff and blackcap have returned to their usual haunts on the reserve | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
