A few from my first walk

Hi all.

After my recent back problems I finally managed to get out for a short walk around my village this morning. It felt so good to be have the camera in my hand again I thought I would show you this mornings efforts.

They are not the best photos I have taken but I was quite happy with them after a fortnight lay off anyway.

Hope you like them
Roger

A female Chaffinch

A male Chaffinch

A little Wren

Finally a couple of one of my favourite birds the male Yellowhammer Not the best I have managed of these guys but the first of the year for me and I was pleased with them.

Re: A few from my first walk

What a great feeling that must've been, after all the back troubles you've been having. And I must say, some cracking shots as well! I love the yellowhammers. We're supposed to have these around the local pond, but haven't had the pleasure of seeing them yet. I hope to soon, as I've only seen them once since I've moved to the UK.

Super shots, and congrats on being out on the move again!

Excellent Roger. So glad you're improving health-wise. And I'm not surprised you're happy with your first outing for a while, they're some lovely shots!
I haven't even seen a Yellowhammer this year let alone photograph one! Nice one

Re: A few from my first walk

Hi Roger, good to see you are on the road to recovery.
Love the wren, which I find difficult to photograph as they never seem to sit still for more than a second.

All the best,

Ron

Re: A few from my first walk

Thanks Jen, Gareth and Ron.

I was only out about an hour and a half and went fairly early while the sun was out. Didn't want to overdo it and was under orders from the wife to be back under two hours.

Find early morning is certainly the best time to catch the Yellowhammers or late evening just before they go to roost.

Roger

Thanks Bill, I really enjoyed my couple of hours this morning and the best thing about it is I have suffered no ill effects from my little jaunt this morning. I was a little worried about overdoing things but I'm fine.

Re: A few from my first walk

glad you're up and about again Roger. Those shots are very nice, especially the yellowhammers. It only struck me the other day that I haven't seen one of your trademark yellowhammer images for a while! I look forward to plenty more now that spring seems to be here.

Matt

Re: A few from my first walk

Thanks Kayleigh, the chiropractor did tell me I could go for a walk as long as I took it easy.

Thanks Matt the Yellowhammers are just beginning to sing, not in full voice yet but they should be in a couple more weeks or so. This is the time when I can usually get the closest to the males because they are that intent on singing they usually ignore me.

Probably won't get anywhere near one now I've said that.

Roger

Really happy for you Roger. I know how special that walk must have been. And some great photos.

Lovely photos Roger - can't imagine what it must be like not to be able to get out and about for someone so active. Hope things improve for you - just don't be tempted to over do it

Thanks Gareth. Used to have a Yellowhammer avatar before but changed it to a Dunnock. Thought it was time to change back

Re: A few from my first walk

It's great to see you're up, about and shooting again Roger - I hope your full recovery is swift. And some nice photos by the way - I love the Yellowhammers, well worthy of a new avatar
