| | | Ring Ouzel Thanks to John for pointing me in the direction of the Rare Birds part of the Gallery.
I've posted a couple of pics of a Ring Ouzel we saw at Minsmere in April 2007.
The pics are not the best but I hope they are good enough for identification purposes.

| | | Re: Ring Ouzel Davey- you are unduly modest- these photos are more than just adequate for ID. I would be very pleased + good to see sharp images in habitat. |

| | | Re: Ring Ouzel They're lovely pics DavyG - don't be so modest!
From other threads I have seen, Minsmere (and I have no idea where that is, I'm ashamed to say ) looks like the place to visit if you want to see the more unusual variety of birds in addition to all the usual ones!

| | | Re: Ring Ouzel Two nice shots of a lovely bird Dave - well done.
I haven't seen one of these for years - last time was in the Goyt Valley in the Peak District where they used to be quite frequently seen.

| | | Re: Ring Ouzel Good clear images. If memory serves me thay are referred to as the "upland blackbird". I have not seen ouzels on the coast but I have seen and heard them in Snowdonia and on the yorkshire peaks. But not close enough to photograph.

| | | Re: Ring Ouzel Thanks to everyone for taking the time to look and for your kind comments.
We were lucky to find the Ring Ouzel, we had only gone for a walk and were the only people watching it.
I'm still fairly new to photography and would like to be able to produce shots like some shown on this Forum, your encouragement is appreciated.
Thea: Minsmere is in Suffolk, it's a lovely place with a variety of habitats, you can see everything from otters to dragonflies there, if you're lucky!
I haven't seen the otters yet though.

I don't think there's much to be jealous about Thea, I lived on the edge of the New Forest for around 18 months, you're very lucky!
You could always join the WAB meet at Minsmere in April though: Minsmere 08
