It's always a cause for celebration when I see my first hirundine of the year. It's usually around the 10th April for me up here, though I saw my first local wheatear the other day.
Regards, Chris |

Regards, Chris | I was very suprised myself, not at the House Martin, but I wasn't expecting a Swallow as the weather has been so bad |

| | | Re: Summer birds I had a walk round my local country park at dawn yesterday hoping for Wheatear or oher migrants, but only found a couple of singing Chiffchaff that have been in a week or so! The winter stuff seemed to have gone- no Redwing or Fieldfare + the last Black-headed Gulls had disappeared, though still some lingering Common Gulls. |

Maybe its your coastal location?

| | | Re: Summer birds Large raptors on the move today over London's skies with a Black Kite reported by experienced observers over Regent's Park, a Red Kite elsewhere, several Buzzards+ a probable Osprey.
Rainham RSPB has had a Stone Curlew today. |

| | | Re: Summer birds Chiffchaff seen and heard for the first time this year in my Lincolnshire garden. Got a very poor record shot, despite seeing it very clearly, because I had my macro lens on. |
