| | | Pesky Rooks I read with interest comments on a thread of how to (or not) eradicate Rooks.
My problem is how to deter the Rooks from the garden. Last year they systematically stripped nine fruit trees (apple, pear and plum) including the crab apple (which they are welcome to). They invited themselves into the greenhouse and started on the tomatoes until a net was placed over the open doorway.
Opening the window and shouting at them when home is a bit tedious.
Is there any proven way of preventing this without harming them?
Any help would be appreciated. |

| | | Re: Pesky Rooks You can tie CDs to the trees.
Anything that makes a noise tied up..
You can get a gun thing that attaches to a hose pipe that senses something moving and squirts water at them
I'm sure you will get lots of useful tips from other members soon.. |

| | Re: Pesky Rooks we have a similar problem with rooks devastating our feeding station,
we tried all sorts with out any luck, then i remembered seeing a bird of prey ball in a bird feed shop which was just a shiney ball , so we put up a small glitterball ( the ones that you use in discos ) and up to press the rooks have left the feeders alone, hope this helps and good luck!! |
