| | | Re: Goldfinch I hadn't seen goldfinch in my garden until three weekends ago, when I bought my first niger seed feeder. I was expecting to have to wait at least several weeks before anyone noticed the new feeder was there, but within two days they were onto it. I now have four regular goldfinch visitors whom I watch queuing up to feed on it every morning as I get my own breakfast. I love the way they angle their heads upwards contemplatively as they munch the seed: they seem to be savouring it slowly, like a fine wine. They are my current favourite garden bird. |

| | | Re: Goldfinch I was the same, not had one in the garden until a few weeks ago although I had seen them on the nearby river bank, a 'flockette' would sometimes keep a short distance infront of me as I was dog walking, as they were feeding from thistle down on dead thistles that grow along the top of the bank, then I put a couple of Niger feeders up and within a few weeks they had found them and are now regular visitors in increasing numbers |

| | | Re: Goldfinch I've got a Niger feeder and a Sunflower hearts feeder. They can't keep away from the Sunflowers but don't touch the Niger. I'd suggest sunflower seeds too
Taken yesterday
