Saw a couple of sand martins today for the first time this year, against a very Wintry back drop of snowy mountains. |

Must have been a tricky weekend for them finding insects to feed on. There were c100 at Staines Reservoirs. Hope mortality wasn't too high. |

There was a letter in the Telegraph today from someone in Dorset reporting his first house martin.
Spring still seems a long way off despite nesting activity.

There have been Sand martins around in Leicestershire for the past fortnight, the last few days has seen an influx of Wheatears and migrant Chiff-Chaffs, plus there was a report of two Swallows at a reserve in the west of the county last week!
