If you get into survey and actually plot the birds down as you see and hear them wrens are regularly the most frequent, though dunnocks and whitethroat are doing quite well this year in a couple of my sites!! Hopfully the dunnock may be recovering from it's decline!!

Re: Britains most common songbird

I had a bird singing outside my house last night so recorded it with my PDA. Actually it sounds like there may be more than one. It really was a lovely sound and I sat in carpark for some time listening to it. I hear them here every morning, as I have the windows wide open but I never really thought about it too much. Last night there was a few in the area but one very close. I could not see it in the tree but saw the tree it was coming from. I thought it must be really content sat up the tree singing away to its friends and them joining in too. It was a supercool bird

Re: Britains most common songbird

Unfortunately the file is 670k so its too large for the sounds section. I will see if I can convert the .wav file to .mpeg and make it smaller, then I shall upload if I can work it out.

Cheers

Boddie

Its easy to do, just the same as uploading a photo. You could shorten the recording to make it smaller...............Jon

Re: Britains most common songbird

I am not sure how to shorten it and I just found out that the software I had has time elapsed. Thats bang out of order as I paid some money for it. Is there anything Windows XP that I can use?

You got me there..........I am not sure. I think that windows media player is just that, a player, though I may be wrong. You could try making a copy (just in case) and having a play around, seeing if you can delete part of it..............Jon

Re: Britains most common songbird

Nice one CB, I was going to say play it back on your speakers and rerecord part of it with the PDA, simple is often best - look at me !

Blackbirds are more common in most Urban and Suburban areas, but in woodland and scrub wrens are present in much higher densities.
