Re: Unidentified bird Norfolk

It sounds bizarre! Yet in your description are odd snippets that point towards a Goldfinch (though there are also odd snippets that don't!).

Smile Re: Unidentified bird Norfolk

Thank you for your replies, we have Goldfinch and Greenfinch in the garden all the time, and this was not like either of these - by comparison the finches are much more highly coloured, this bird was pale, it's body was buff all over, with a pink bill.

Also no red or black.

We do not have Whitethroat in garden, but it doesn't look like the picture in our books...

Any other suggestions, or anybody think they have seen a smilar bird? Could it have escaped from an avary perhaps.

Thanks

With your description, that seems probable I think.

Re: Unidentified bird Norfolk

From the description I wonder if it's a meadow pipit, but I'm not sure if these would eat niger seed. Female siskin might also be a possibility?

It's too early in the season for Spottted flycatcher, Mrs F, and neither they nor Meadow pipits will use hanging feeders.

Pekin Robin perhaps?
