Given the location it may be a BoP, but I think the fingered wings, black plumage and fanned tail it MAY be a carrion crow or jackdaw.

Three hundred foot away? The camera you used is impressive!

im a hundred percent it was a bird of prey, the image has been cropped and lightened.

The tail shape and what looks like a black edge on the tail make me want to suggest a kestrel

this was much bigger than a kestrel, in the air not far away were two kestrels hovering, ??

i had already seen 3 buzzards previous to this, it just seemed to stand out as a larger bird,

I unfortunately cannot help with ID, but I ran the photo through photoshop in hopes of brightening it up some. Hope it helps in ID'ing it.

I had a look through my books and maybe think it is a marsh harrier??

Possibly juvenille ?

This image looks abit like a short eared owl.

i think it may be the old fishermans the one that got away senario, i just dont know.
