Duck ID please

Can anyone ID this duck for me please?

It was spotted a couple of years ago at the London Wetland Centre and I've never been able to find out what it was.

I look at at it and think some kind of Teal, Wigeon, Ferrugious cross, thingy!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It's a type of teal, known as a Ringed Teal. A lovely male.

Hi Astra,
That little Ringed Teal - Callonetta Leucophrys, was a little bit off track from the south American forrests that he usualy frequents, nice sighting and a very good pic, Well done you.

Thank you so much Dae and dmclean2, I have been puzzling over that little duck for years!
I had plugged all its identifying marks into Google but nothing ever came up right so it's wonderful to be able to put a name to him at last.
