Regents park heronry - First chicks!

Been meaning to post this since Friday but only processed the photos yesterday - But anyway, as Words and those who have visited by blog recently will know I've been keeping track of the heronry in Regents Park. Ive been hearing some interesting noises coming from one of the enst for a couple of weeks and on Friday I got my first postive sighting of the chicks.

Sorry the photos are a bit rubbish but you can just make the chicks out.

If only they were as easy to photograph as the adults

yess that is a bit of cheese its got in its beak!

Ahhh - I'd forgotten about the heronry there!! I've got to go up to London next week, to sort out a cellar (don't ask!!), so I might go see it...on the other hand I might wander up to the Heath and do a bit of birding as it's kinda right where i'll be..hmm decisions !!

A kingfisher!!! - oh well maybe i'll make the time to go there too

The Heath is brilliant for wildlife at all times of year the pond round the corner from the BR station is usualy pretty good for birds...and then the bit between Golders Hill Park and the Hill for woodland birds.

Dont count on seeinng the kingfisher thou. Im yet too. Its usually on the bridge in the wildfowl area by the toilets. The egyptian geese have bred there too now. Also look out for th coot fighting to the right of the heronry and the tame grey squirrel (and when I say tame i mean jump on you if you stand still!) are down by the college
