Apologies for awful photo, all usual excuses apply, I'm thinking Green Sand here?

According to my id guide greensand is very wary,doesnt often mix with other waders and is usually found in or around fresh water habitats.
did you manage to see the wings. was there a white wing bar present.the upper and under wing on green sand is dark.
could be green sandpiper but its impossible to tell from photo.could also be common sandpiper but as i said from photo its only a guess

You're right it is a Green Sandpiper; Common Sandpiper has different jizz + has a white "shoulder".

Green Sandpiper.......

Clearly defined breast marking light to dark and also no vest shape to breast in the Common.
