| | | Bird boxes - too late? Hi all long time no see (my fault)
Have been watching the garden birds today (something to do whilst home sick) and had a sudden thought:
Is it too late to put up bird boxes?
It's nice to be home

| | | Re: Bird boxes - too late? Not a lot of nesting activity yet in my neck of the woods so a good chance you still have time to put up a few boxes. If no luck this season they will be ready for next.

Pixii | It's not too late - only one of our three boxes has been definitely "claimed" so far, though the other two are being inspected regularly.
If you click on the Overview link on our Home Page, you'll be able to see when nest building started in our nest boxes since we started with one camera-equipped box in 2001. |

| | | Re: Bird boxes - too late? Thanks for all the answers - have just told my other half we need to get a couple of boxes this weekend
One question though - whereabouts do you site them as a rule? We have fences running down the left & right side of the garden and at the bottom are very tall bushes (can't think of their name) where all the birds "appear" from. Can I fix one to a trunk? It's also where the feeders are - albeit they are on stands in the garden (not hanging from the trees).
