Duck ID please

Went ro Neumann Flash, Northwich, yesterday and got some reasonable photos of Shelduck and Shoveler, and a quick but poor shot of a Goldeneye.
There was also this duck that I am not sure about:



Could it be a Gadwall?

With that white in the wing it's gotta be Gadwell

Thanks Eric - I thought it might be. Is it a male or female? Picture in my birdbook shows the white wing flash for the female but not the male.

Looks a bit too brown for the male, but light plays tricks. They both have black and white speculum

definately a male gadwall, the females look an awful lot like a female mallard.

In my experiance they are nearly always present in twos there probably was a female tucked away on the edge or something.
