| | | Dunnocks and bird boxes Hi there, has anyone had any luck with nest boxes and dunnocks? They seem to prefer dense shrubs, so perhaps a box in a hedge? I seem to have a good few dunnocks around and I guess they could use a few more safe nesting sites. Thanks, Julian |

| | | Re: Dunnocks and bird boxes They may use a nest box similar to robins, like you say they like dense bushes. I had a trio last year I'm sure were about to nest in my overgrown passion flower but I had to trim it back and they disappeared
I would be pleased to have either robins or dunnocks nest in my garden |

| | | Re: Dunnocks and bird boxes I would say they don't really need a box as they build a cup type nest in suitable bushes, though they may use an open type box like a Robin. |

| | | Re: Dunnocks and bird boxes We have Dunnocks in our garden who feed from the dropped seed under the birds tables every day and they nest in the Leylandii/Cypressus etc, and also some scrub at the far end of the field, they like the dense old bramble bushes etc but these have been cut down in many places now so have had to adapt. I've not seen them interested in any of our assorted bird boxes including a Robin one. |

| | | Re: Dunnocks and bird boxes Thanks for the responses. It sounds like they do their own thing so I'll put an open fronted one up and maybe a robin will have a look at it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
