| | | BOP - possible Buzzard? Spotted this large BOP yesterday soaring above a local pool - a splendid sight indeed as it slowly circled around - just gliding with no wing-flaps. Is it a Buzzard?
Cheers

| | | Re: BOP - possible Buzzard? Thanks Graham - does seem to fit the description and photo in my RSPB bird book - except that the tail in my photo seems to fan out a lot more - but I suppose that must vary, especially for the bird to glide around.
Cheers

| | | Re: BOP - possible Buzzard? Yes mate , thats a buzzard, sure as shooting, the tail is used as a rudder when flying, and as such it can be in various possitions at any one time.

| | | Re: BOP - possible Buzzard? Yep a buzzard and one of the give aways is the appearance of a pale band on the chest with dark feathers either side - they don't always have this charateristic but mostly they do!

| | | Re: BOP - possible Buzzard? Well done, Tich - that's a nice photo of a Buzzard. I see them often, but I've yet to get a photo as good as yours. |

| | | Re: BOP - possible Buzzard? nice picture of buzzard tich. I like how photography can freeze a moment in time and then allow you to look at birds in detail. A very nicely marked bird showing some feather wear on wings and tail
