| | | Active Sprawks I don't know if other's areas are the same, but lately the Sparrowhawks have been very active in my area. Over the past week i've seen around half a dozen over or in the garden, capped by one on Saturday in the tree with the sunflower feeder in, and one this morning sat on our bird table Maybe they are getting into their breeding areas. |

| | | Re: Active Sprawks i was looking out of the living room window at about 5 tonight, and on the road infront of the house is a sparrowhawk looking at me, stayed for a good 2 mins then flew onto the fence, back to your question, yes i think the activity in this area has picked up, great to watch.

| | | Re: Active Sprawks We have been seeing them regularly here to, we used to have one that sat on top or on the side of the avairy licking its lips or it would have been doing if it had any , but has learned I think that it's not a take away, although if they are really quick they have been known to take avairy birds who are resting etc by swooping down, grabbing them with their claws through the wire and eating them by pulling them through bit by bit, that's not happened to us thank goodness as ours is double wired. One also used to sit ontop of one of the sheds watching the bird feeders, waste of time though as they never came when they knew it was there. |

| | | Re: Active Sprawks Hi,
Iv'e watched starlings recently, form a flock of about 30, and in a tight ball formation follow above a Sparrowhawk untill the hawk was out of their patch ,
And a magpie mobbed a Sparrowhawk that landed in the bay tree at the bottom of our garden, she didn't stay long, and took off, for more hospitable climes I shouldn't wonder.

| | | Re: Active Sprawks Don't remember seeing any in Warrington before (although probably there) but over the last 2 weeks I've seen 5/6, I saw one being mobbed by the local starlings for 3/4 minuites, also the one that tried to stick to my cars passenger window (see other post). | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
