| | | Birds of Elmley I have finally managed to get out and about for some serious photography with my new camera and spent a couple of days at Elmley Marshes in Kent last week. Thought I'd share the results with you.
I decided to start a new thread rather than add to my previous one. I put that one in the Treehouse as I was wittering on about Prince Edward, but this one belongs in the British Birds section.
Anyway, it's taken a while to edit them down but here are my favourites from the two visits...
Lapwing:
Little Egret:
Pheasant (female):
Shoveler:
Robin:
Kestrel:
Meadow Pipit:
Stonechat:
That last stonechat was taken through a closed hide window so it's a wee bit softer than the others but I'm not complaining! He was so close I had to take half a step back so the lens could focus.
Many thanks for all the kind comments that people have already added to these images in the Gallery.
I still have a little bit of editing to do so there might be a curlew and a ringed plover to add later, and another small wader that I still haven't identified yet.
Dave P.

| | | Re: Birds of Elmley Im fairly certian I saw a kestrel sitting on the post that you have photographed one on, when i visited in 2007. I imagine it would be quite likely to be the same kestrel too
Some nice photos |

| | | Re: Birds of Elmley Elmley is a fantastic site. You can even get some good birdwatching in from the car along the track to the car park if you don't want the long trek to the hides.
There are some good photos here Dave from your visit. Thank you for sharing.

Of these, the lapwing, little egret, shoveler and the third kestrel were all taken from the car on the long (2 miles) drive in or out of the reserve.

Curlew:
Ringed Plover:
And the one that I hadn't identified but which I'm now pretty sure is a dunlin:
