| | | Brown bird
Taken last june. Was along time ago so ive forgot is song although it was quite complex. Carnt remember the size to well either although it was bigger than a sparrow sized bird. It looks alot like a robin i think but plain brown, its song was different too.
Thanks alot.

Maybe learning its vocal repertoire?

Unfortunately I can't help with the ID but hopefully someone can soon

| | | Re: Brown bird With the added enhancement I am going to change my mind and go with my hunch of robin. It just doesn't look like a dunnock. It may not have the red of an adult robin, but it sure looks like one. |

| | | Re: Brown bird Definitely not a Robin - a bird that sings would have to have been an adult so would have had a red breast: also the tail looks too long. Probably not a Dunnock, either. It was June, it had a "quite complex" song and was "plain brown". So, an obvious candidate would be Garden Warbler although even the considerably-brightened photo isn't enough for a 100% positive ID. |

| | | Re: Brown bird Confused by this one.
Admittedly, its tail does look too long for a Robin, given a closer look.
The more and more I look at it, the more and more it begins to look like a juvenile Blackbird???? But juv blackbirds don't sing do they???
Oh I don't know?!

Are you sure? I have looked at all of my bird books and not one mentions that a female Blackbird does not sing.

| | | Re: Brown bird We have a similar brown bird in our garden we saw last weekend It was the same size and shape as a robin (bigger than a tit anyway, but smaller than a blackbird) except brown all over with a black stripe across the eye. I tried using the RSPB bird identifier and a book to ID, but it was too fast moving to see clearly and all the birds that came up either don't visit my part of the world (N. Ireland) or are summer only birds. Of course when I found the camera it didn't come back. |

| | | Re: Brown bird So, it's smaller than a Songy. In that case, after looking closely at the head shape, I think it's a Robin, but with some sort of plumage aberration. The shape is wrong for a Garden Warbler.
