| | | Huge increase in bird seed price The birds seem to be getting through feed at an ever increasing rate but I was rather stunned to see that my usual supplier had raised their price from £24.50 per 20Kg in December to £37.00 now. I assume this is due to an increase in bulk food prices but does anyone else know of a cheaper source? |

| | | Re: Huge increase in bird seed price Hi,
I received a food booklet from a company called CJ Wildlife and in the front there is this message:
"we have had to increase the prices of our food. This is due to to a dramatic rise in commodity prices caused in part by more crops being used globally for biofuels"
I don't know who your usual supplier is but you could try cj wildlife CJ WildBird Foods [UK]. Wild Bird food, seed, feeders, nest boxes, bird houses, water baths and more. Online Shop
haven't ordered from them before so i can't tell you about the service. |

| | | Re: Huge increase in bird seed price I have a small farmland feeding station and feed a blend of wild bird seed and mixed corn, mostly for yellowhammers, tree sparrows, grey partridge, etc. The last 20kg sacks I bought (beginning of the month) cost me £7.50 for the mixed corn and £8.50 for the wild bird seed. I buy from a farm shop in Cheshire.

| | | Re: Huge increase in bird seed price I have used CJs for years and been very pleased with them. However, their prices have gone up too much for me this time and for sunflower hearts, they are considerably more expensive than my local pet shop now.
I have discovered another supplier called Vine House Farm. I liked the look of their website and they do loads for their local wildlife. I'm going to try them out next autumn and winter. Vine House Farm | Welcome

| | | Re: Huge increase in bird seed price Hi All,
CJ is my usual supplier and I was surprised to see how much the prices have risen. I will try some of the other sites and thank you all for the suggestions.

| | | Re: Huge increase in bird seed price My local supplier has made several price increases on peanuts over the past month or two, and also the quality has dropped.
I got my last delivery from Wiggly Wigglers, and am delighted with the quality and the service. I haven't compared the prices with other sources, but they beat my local supplier for price and quality.
I'll go and look at CJ's.

Regards, Chris | Have just placed my order with Vine House Farm - will let people know what it is like as it is rather a lot cheaper than other sites.
