| | Where Has The Robin Gone????? I used to have 1 robin visit my garden every single day; he would come and use the feeders fly around for a bit, then come back a little bit later on. He would normaly visit a few times throughout the day but ever since the big garden bird watch I have not seen him. I done the bird watch and he did not come that day and I said to my mum "Typical he comes every day but not on the birdwatch day", BUT he did not come the day after that and I have not seen him since.
Does anyone know anything about Robins and how they occupy their habitats? |

Robins are very territorial and during the winter each bird has its own territory and both males and females will fight any other Robin that comes into there territory, as spring approaches they start to pair up, this is happening at the moment, with most males holding on to their territory and the females abandon theirs to join a male. So it maybe that your bird was a female that has now moved of to find a mate, it is very difficult to tell male from female Robins.
Some Robins are partial migrants and move from the colder areas of Britain to the warmer south, your bird could have been one of these.
Hope this helps, Ferret |

| | Re: Where Has The Robin Gone????? Hi!
I have a Robin that goes off in the spring and returns in the late summer.
And a Dunnock that I haven't seen for a couple of weeks, through the winter there has been two sometimes three dunnocks, so he or she has gone off to take a mate and build a nest, watched two Magpies this morning dragging long twigs from the bay tree and fly off with them , so they are getting ready.
