| | collard doves You will never believe this but i had 7 collard doves on my bird feeding station this morning, the large feeder futher down the garden was empty,i fill it every day,but today i thought i would leave it so the birds would clear the seed in the feeding station, didnt think collard doves would attack it,the feeding station gets a bit wobbly with 7 doves hanging on it as you can imagin,i do get the odd one but never 7 at one time,i get a regular blue tit every morning,i know its the same one as he/she always takes a sunflower heart jumps on the budlia to eat it,then repeats the same prosess untill he/she is full, quite sweet really, also had my same blackbirds hanging around for their crusts, thats another thing they watch out for, they dont fly away just hang around on the branches untill i go in the house then they grab the bread and eat it on the ground, they seem to be able to know what time of day it is,this is around 12.30pm when i cut the crusts off father in laws sandwiches,as he is rather fussy,we might all be like that if we get to 93. |

| | | Re: collard doves No they are all adults, they are pairs most of them anyway, there is a hell of a lot of collard doves and wood pigeons in the fens, never see so many till i moved up here, also a lot of blackbirds,no finches, great tits, only blue tits must be something to do with the fens flatness i would think. |

Used to have several pairs visit daily but a Sparrowhawk moved in and thinned them out a bit.
